VITAMIN COLLECTION NECKTIES - In September 1993, the first "Molecular Expressions" line of neckwear, featuring colors and patterns based on the molecular structures of vitamins was introduced. "Vitamins are organic molecules (not necessarily amines) that are essential to metabolism in all living organisms. While these molecules serve essentially the same role in all forms of life, higher organisms have lost the ability to synthesize vitamins. There are two major groups of vitamins: the fat-soluble vitamins designated by the letters A, D, E, and K, and the water-soluble vitamins, which are referred to as the vitamin B complex. We have recrystallized and photographed these biochemicals under the microscope." |

COCKTAIL COLLECTION NECKTIES - These out of print, limited-edition ties
feature colors and patterns which recreate the molecular structures of alcoholic beverages mixed with other flavorings. "We have found these cocktails to be one of the most difficult subjects for photomicrography (photography with a microscope) that we have ever encountered. In our system, we must crystallize or orient the sample so that polarized light will be refracted as it passes through--giving us the beautiful patterns that we typically see with this type of microscopy. Unfortunately getting pure tequila (or its counterparts) to crystallize has proven to be extremely difficult. Without divulging all of our tricks, we have found methods (such as cooling with liquid nitrogen) that can be used to force crystallization on the most stubborn specimens."

Only these "Collector" ties have been gently used by a previous owner. Many of my customers collect ties in specific themes and I help them find treasures. Some ties were given as gifts to the wrong person and get passed on without even being worn. Other ties might have been chosen for a specific occasion and rarely worn again.
